Fifteen years in the trade. Every rung climbed. Now running every job personally — because that's the only way to guarantee the result.
An artist's background isn't just a nice story — it shapes the experience you actually get when you hire us. Here's what that looks like in practice.
Because Josh trained his eye on murals where every line had to be intentional, you get cleaner cut-ins, straighter edges, and a finish that holds up under close inspection — not just from across the room.
You get a clear quote upfront, a realistic timeline, and honest answers if something changes along the way — so you always know where your project stands and what it will cost.
Floors covered, furniture protected, and a clean job site every day — because the way we treat your home or business while we're in it matters just as much as the paint job itself.
You're not waiting around guessing when the crew will arrive. We schedule realistically and communicate clearly, so your project stays on track from start to finish.
Blankie Painting Co., LLC is licensed and insured (ROC #357332) — so you can hire with confidence, knowing your project and your property are protected.
Got an unusual surface, a tricky color match, or an idea for something custom? Josh's background as an artist means we don't just default to "that's not possible" — we find a way to make it work.
Josh didn't walk into painting — he earned it. It started early, helping family and friends, picking up a spray can as an active graffiti artist. But he was self-aware enough to recognize where that path could lead, and deliberate enough to redirect it. He took what he'd built — a genuine eye for color, line, and composition — and turned it into something legitimate. Commissioned murals. Gallery showings. First Fridays in downtown Phoenix.
Fifteen years ago he made the move into professional painting. He started at the bottom — as a helper — and worked through every level of the trade: apprentice, journeyman, spray man, lead, foreman. That progression wasn't handed to him. It reflects how quickly he absorbed the technical side of the craft on top of the artistic foundation he already had.
Two years ago he took the next step and went out on his own. He earned his CR-34 Dual Contractors License — covering both commercial and residential painting — and started Blankie Painting Co. He runs and operates it single-handedly, which means when you hire Blankie Painting, you get Josh. Not a crew he's never worked with. Not a subcontractor. The person whose name is on the license and whose reputation is on the line with every project.
That's not a typical story for a painting contractor. And it's exactly why the work looks the way it does.
Most painting crews learned the trade. Josh learned color, composition, and precision first — as a graffiti and mural artist — then brought that eye into the business. It shows in the details most painters rush past.
“There are too many painters out there who blow and go. That's not how I run my business.”
— Josh, Owner
There's no rotating crew or hand-off to subcontractors you've never met. Josh is personally invested in every project, because his name — and his reputation — is on it.
Murals taught Josh something most painters never learn: a finish is only as good as what happens before the first coat goes on. Surface prep, masking, and protecting the space around the work aren't a formality — they're where the final result actually gets decided.
That mindset carries into every Blankie Painting project, residential or commercial. We treat your walls the way a mural artist treats a canvas: with patience, precision, and a genuine respect for getting it right the first time.
It's also why Blankie Painting handles work other crews shy away from — custom finishes, murals, and specialty surfaces — because that's where this all began.
